Mazda seems to be sticking with the main principles they announced with their SKYACTIV philosophy, according to a recent report. One of these was to steer clear of hybrids, as they add unnecessary weight, complexity and according to some reports, are not as green as they would want you to believe through clever and colorful marketing campaigns.
Moreover, they are able to do this because they are a relatively small manufacturer, which since 2010, is more or less independent, as they severed most production and development ties with Ford .
